A quick Patrick story that I keep forgetting to write down. A few weeks ago, I pick Patrick up from school. He’s pretty upbeat and cooperative. However, in the car ride home, I ask him how his day went. Suddenly, he gets quiet. And in a sad voice, he answers: “Teacher Patrick said he was going to cook me.”
“Oh no!” I say. “Did this make you sad?”
“Yes,” he says, forlorn.
“Well,” I say, trying turn this into a teaching moment, “did you tell Teacher Patrick how this made you feel?”
“No.” A brief pause. “I told him to cook [my friend] Lucy instead, but he didn’t listen.”
